CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It’s that time of the year in Charlotte -- the annual Yiasou Greek Festival.

“Yiasou” means hello, goodbye, and cheers.

The event began in 1978 and has become one of Charlotte’s largest cultural festivals and celebrates the history of the Greek community in this area.

The Yiasou Greek Festival is cuisine and pastries, entertainment, art, shopping , exhibits, lectures and much more.

It has been named “Best International Event” by a number of publications over the years, enjoying  endless accolades and praises for its authentic presentation of Greek culture.

This morning on Larry’s Look, we were joined by a whole group of those involved in the festival.

They talked about how important this tradition is to Charlotte and how more than 50,000 people attend every year.

They also displayed a sampling of some of their delicious pastries that will be on sale, in addition to the other great Greek food.

Five high schoolers also performed a traditional Greek dance, evening inviting Larry to “join-in”!
