CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- At the corner of Seventh and Pecan Streets, here in Charlotte, you’ll find one of the largest and most well-known comics retailers in the country.

HEROES AREN’T HARD TO FIND carries new comics, back issues, Silver and Golden Age comics, and their own line of comics collecting supplies, plus statues and specialty items.

Shelton Drum started collecting comic books as a kid.  At the age of  10, he started buying three out of every Marvel comic being published. By the early ‘70s, he started selling comics at area flea markets.

With all his success from doing that, he opened the first Heroes store in 1980 and hasn’t looked back.  Drum founded the HEROES CONVENTION in 1982 and it has become internationally known for its comics-first and family friendly atmosphere.

This morning on Larry’s Look, Shelton talked about his company and how people of all ages can found a favorite comic book.

He also showed some of the most valuable comics in his collection, including a Spiderman original that’s worth over $50,000!  Shelton and his staff are celebrating Comic Book Day this Saturday.  It’s much like Ben and Jerry’s Free Ice Cream Day---come in and get a great comic book Free!
