CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- J.R. Celski is a short track speed skater and two-time bronze medalist in the Winter Olympics.
At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Celski won bronze in the 1500 m and the 5000 m relay. Five months before the Olympics, Celski suffered a serious injury when he slipped during a race and gashed his left thigh by his own skate blade and was uncertain if he could compete at the Olympics.
When Apolo Anton Ohno decided to hang up his speed skates, he knew he had someone to pass the torch to on Team USA in short track speed skating and that is athlete is Celski.
At the 2012 World Championship, J.R. stamped himself as the man to beat in the 500M distance when he broke the 40 second barrier with his time of 39.973 seconds.
J.R. joined us this morning to talk about his outlook on Sochi, how he got started in short track speed skating, the horrific setback he suffered just prior to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and his comeback and rise to make the podium. It was all on Larry's Look.
