CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte was founded in 1948 and has become one of the country’s largest arts and education organizations that serves young people in our area.

When measured by audience attendance, it ranks in the top five nationally among theatres for young audience,  CTC has received numerous awards on the national, state and local levels, including a 2008 "Medallion" from the Children's Theatre Foundation of America.

The newest production opens September 20th at Imaginon in Uptown Charlotte. It’s “Tarzan: The Stage Musical”----based on Edgar Rice Burrough's classic novel Tarzan of the Apes.

This “high-swinging” musical tells the story of Tarzan, orphaned as a baby on the shores of West Africa and taken in to be raised by a tribe of gorillas. As he grows into a man, he strives to earn the acceptance of his ape father.

When an expedition from England enters their territory, Tarzan has his first encounter with other humans as he meets Professor Porter, his daughter Jane, and their hunting guide Clayton.

This morning on Larry’s Look, we got a sneak peak of the production and met “Tarzan and Jane." Tarzan, of course, make his dramatic entrance by swinging-in on a vine.  With his long locks, Tarzan was fascinated with Larry’s hair and vice versa!
