Some defensive highlights and lowlights for North Carolina in the past four seasons:
_ 2002: Allowed 35.1 points and 452.4 total yards per game while tallying 20 sacks in a 3-9 season.
_ 2003: Allowed 38.8 points and 505.2 total yards — the worst totals since the program began keeping records in 1931 — while tallying 16 sacks in a 2-10 season.
_ 2004: Allowed 31.8 points and 446.5 total yards while tallying 20 sacks in a 6-6 season.
_ 2005: Allowing 21.7 points and 349.7 total yards while tallying 10 sacks after three games.
