Republicans aren't letting the attention focused on the Democratic candidates for president and governor in North Carolina get them down heading into Tuesday's primary.
GOP governors candidates Fred Smith and Pat McCrory were out on the campaign trail Saturday, trying to energize supporters and win over any last undecided voters.
Polls show Smith, a state senator, and McCrory, Charlotte's mayor, about even in a five-man race for the right to take on the Democratic nominee in November.
Smith spent the morning shaking hands at Smithfield's Ham & Yam Festival. He then drove to Apex for the town's spring festival. He was met there by McCrory's sister, who was working the GOP tent for her brother.
McCrory planned events Saturday afternoon in Asheboro and Moore County.
