The former coach and general manager of the WNBA's Charlotte Sting is returning to the sideline.

Queens University of Charlotte on Tuesday announced the hiring of Trudi Lacey as its women's basketball coach.

Lacey spent six years with the Sting and moved up the franchise's ladder as a scouting director, assistant coach, head coach and general manager. The Sting folded in early 2007.

Athletic director Jeannie King says Lacey is a perfect fit for the Division II program because of her coaching experience and her familiarity with the Charlotte area.
