Duke has named its new director of basketball operations.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski on Tuesday announced that his son-in-law, former Army player Chris Spatola, has been promoted. Spatola was a graduate assistant and head team manager last season for the Blue Devils, and before that he was a battery commander and executive officer in the U.S. Army.

Spatola is taking over for Mike Schrage, who followed longtime Krzyzewski assistant Johnny Dawkins to Stanford.

Spatola is married to Krzyzewski's daughter Jamie.
