Heat means cancellation of Pembroke criminal court

08/06/2008

Associated Press

Hot weather combined with a lack of air conditioning has claimed a victim: the criminal session of District Court in Pembroke.

Wednesday's forecast says the temperature is expected to reach at least 98 degrees with a heat index of more than 100 degrees. The Fayetteville Observer reports that the clerk of court will reschedule the Wednesday cases. Notices will be mailed to those affected by the change.

Robeson County Chief District Court Judge J. Stanley Carmical and the clerk of court learned Tuesday that the air conditioning unit could not be repaired for the court session.
