Gasoline prices are dropping quickly in North Carolina, down about $2 in the past 60 days.
The Charlotte Observer reported Monday that the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $4.08 on Sept. 15. The price was $2.07 on Sunday and dropping.
AAA Carolinas auto club spokesman Tom Crosby said the lower prices are good news in a time when economic news is bad. Crosby says the decreases should continue.
Prices from Raleigh to Charlotte were below $1.90 at some stations.
Crosby says Thanksgiving holiday demand for gasoline may slow the price decline, but it will be temporary because the poor economy will keep many people at home.
