New York Gov. David Paterson has ordered flags on all state office buildings be flown at half-staff on Friday to honor a New York City Marine who was killed in Afghanistan.

Lance Cpl. Alberto Francesconi was killed on New Year's Day while fighting in the Helmand province. Francesconi was assigned to Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Paterson offered his condolences Tuesday to the 21-year-old Bronx resident's family, friends and fellow Marines.
