Forecasters have issued a flash flood watch for counties across central North Carolina and said to expect heavy rain through Friday across most of the state.
The National Weather Service issued the watch Thursday through Friday morning from the foothills in western counties through much of the piedmont area. The area includes the cities of Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Roxboro, Burlington, Albemarle and Wadesboro.
Heavy rainfall was expected in the afternoon and through the night at rates up to 2 inches an hour. Some of the areas in the watch are those that experienced flash flooding Wednesday.
