Park project wins $500 contest for use of NC land
06/26/2009
The winner of a contest looking for an alternate use for 600 acres of woodland and marshland near Southport wants to put in a park.
Frank Bausch, a Caswell Beach councilman, won No port, Southport's $500 first prize on Thursday. The contest sought a more eco-friendly and "fiscally responsible" use for land slated to become a massive cargo terminal. Bausch's idea divides the 600 acres into seven individual sites featuring energy production and storage technologies.
The group received 27 entries nationwide.
