HARRISBURG, N.C. - Friday night turned into a home date for Marty Paxton and Hickory Ridge. Field conditions forced Cuthbertson to travel to Harrisburg in the Friday Night Frenzy Game of the Week.
The Ragin' Bulls went after their first win of 2013. Hickory Ridge got a huge boost on their first offensive series when Romello Barnett busted loose for 84 yard touchdown run, giving Hickory Ridge an early 7-0 lead.
The Bulls tacked on another score when Justin Wallace threw up a prayer that was pulled in by Austin Helm. Hickory Ridge led 15-3 at half.
The second half belonged to the Cavaliers. Cody Wilson scored three touchdowns, as Cuthbertson out scored Hickory Ridge 29-7 after half, and won 32-22.
“Our kids are well conditioned and really fought hard. It's nice to be 2-0 for the first time in school history,” Cuthbertson Head Coach David Johnson said.
Marty Paxton and the Bulls fell to 0-2 on the season.
"We got each other's back. We'll just keep fighting together as one, just get after it each week and see what happens."
Hickory Ridge has another home date with Robinson next week. Cuthbertson is scheduled to play Monroe at home.
