CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Knights opened their new uptown ballpark Friday night.
The Knights played their first game at BB&T Ballpark Friday against the Norfolk Tide. First pitch for the sold out game was thrown by Former Knights slugger Jim Thome. Governor Pat McCrory also threw out a ceremonial first pitch.
A pre-game festival kicked off at noon at Romare Bearden Park, featuring the introduction of the Knights team and an autograph session for fans.
The festival was family-themed, featuring live music, magicians and more.
The Carolina Panthers’ PURRcussion team launched activities at 11:55 a.m. Three separate bands are scheduled to perform during the afternoon.
