CONCORD, N.C. -- Thousands of fans are gearing up for the biggest Memorial Day celebration in the country: The Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Harry Wiley and Larry Howard have been friends for years. They met at the family campground at the track in the ‘90s, and this weekend they'll put their lawn chairs outside Wiley's motor home and sit in a circle and enjoy good company, home cooked meals and years of memories.

"It's about the fellowship," said Wiley.

"Nobody sees themselves as better around here," said Howard. "Whether you have a small motor home or a one-million-dollar one, everyone speaks to each other, everyone's included," he said.

The weekend is more than racing, the men say. In fact, more time will be spent in the family campground than around the track, they both agree.

To people who don't understand the sport, or get why people enjoy camping at CMS for days, Howard laughs, "I don't understand them either!"
