FORT MILL, S.C. -- After seven-straight losses, including back-to-back doubleheaders, a win was long overdue for the Charlotte Knights. They would get that much-needed win on Friday in Toledo.

The win was Charlotte’s eighth of the season and first since April 24 when they beat the Norfolk Tides 6-5 at Knights Stadium
Phegley finished Friday’s contest with three hits, three runs scored, and four RBIs to go along with his two-home run game. It was his first multi-home run game since April 21, 2011 when he hit two home runs for Double-A Birmingham. Phegley now leads the Knights with six home runs on the season.
Charlotte scored three of their 10 runs off Toledo starter Ramon Garcia (0-2, 4.91), who was saddled with the game two loss. The Knights scored their final seven runs off of two relief pitchers – Evan Reed and Robbie Weinhardt. In all, the Knights pounded out 16 hits.
Rienzo (2-2, 6.82) allowed two runs on six hits to earn his second win of the season. The Brazilian native struck-out a season-best seven batters. Rienzo now leads the Knights with two wins on the year.
Offensively, Josh Bell, Blake Tekotte, and Jim Gallagher all had three hits apiece on Friday for the Knights. Gallagher raised his average to .338 on the season. Brent Morel also chipped in with two hits.
Reliever Donnie Veal made his 2013 Knights debut out of the bullpen. Veal, who was optioned down from Chicago on Wednesday, tossed two shutout innings. Reliever Daniel Moskos also had a scoreless frame for Charlotte.
The win improved the Knights record to 8-21 on the season – the same mark the Mud Hens have after 29 games in 2013.
