FORT MILL, S.C. -- For the second straight night, the Charlotte Knights and Syracuse Chiefs ended their game in the midnight hour. This time, however, it was the Knights who were victorious.

Jim Gallagher roped a bases-loaded, walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th inning and the Knights beat the Chiefs 7-6 on Wednesday in game two of their four-game series from Knights Stadium. Gallagher hit the first pitch he saw from Syracuse reliever Jeremy Accardo (2-1, 5.21) to end the game nearly five hours after the originally scheduled first pitch time of 7:15 p.m.

After a one hour and 22-minute rain delay, the game began on Tuesday at 8:37 p.m. and ended on Wednesday at 12:06 a.m. Game one was a combined five hours and 17 minutes (one hour and two-minute rain delay).

Gallagher, who entered the game as a pinch-runner in the 10th inning, stepped to the plate in the 11th with a .556 batting average (5-9) with the bases loaded. All he needed was one swing of the bat to send his team home. That's just what he did.

Charlotte reliever Simon Castro (3-6, 4.99) pitched a perfect 11th inning to earn the win. Castro came in the game in relief of Leyson Septimo, who did not allow a run in his two innings of work.

The Knights belted 13 hits in the game and Josh Phegley led the way with three of them. Brent Morel also played a key role in game two. Morel went 2-for-5 with his fifth home run of the season.

LHP Charlie Leesman started for the Knights and allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits over six innings, but did not factor in the decision. Leesman struck-out a season-high eight batters.

The two teams will resume their series at 12:15 PM on Wednesday at Knights Stadium. Gates open at 11:00 AM and RHP Jason Berken will start for the Knights.
