CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The summer youth lacrosse season is in full gear in Charlotte.

Teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia converged on Elon Park and Flat Branch Park for the fourth annual Charlotte Summer Classic Tournament.

The boy’s youth lacrosse teams took to fields at both parks on Saturday June 2. Games are also scheduled for Sunday June 3.

The sponsor of the tournament is Mecklenburg Youth Lacrosse and "Stick With Us" which runs lacrosse programs year round, including the high school level "Team Carolina". Two graduates of which recently helped Loyola of Maryland win the Division 1 NCAA Lacrosse Championship on Memorial Day.

Some of the other organizations represented from the Carolinas include Carolina Select Lacrosse, South Charlotte Select Lacrosse, Carolina Flight, and Lake Norman Lacrosse.

The event has grown in recent years. This year a special addition was a lacrosse shooting game sponsored by Charlotte's Major League Lacrosse Team, The Charlotte Hounds.

The teams in the tournament will play up to six total games with champions crowned Sunday evening
