KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — No. 8 seed North Carolina will face No. 9 seed Villanova on Friday in a South Regional rematch of an NCAA semifinal from the Tar Heels' run to the 2009 national title.

North Carolina (24-10) lost 87-77 to Miami in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament championship Sunday, but the Tar Heels have won eight of their last 10 games.

Villanova (20-13) split its first eight games, but the Wildcats moved into NCAA tournament contention in January with back-to-back victories over Louisville and Syracuse. Louisville was ranked fifth and Syracuse third at the time of those games.

A North Carolina victory would set up a possible Sunday matchup with No. 1 seed Kansas, which faces No. 16 seed Western Kentucky on Thursday. North Carolina coach Roy Williams coached Kansas from 1988-2003.
