CHARLOTTE, N.C. - It's a dream come true for former Charlotte Catholic Lacrosse star Mike Sawyer.

Sawyer is in his rookie season with his home town team, the Charlotte Hounds. The attacker has already garnered attention as the Major League Lacrosse Rookie of the Week earlier this season.

Mike relishes the opportunity to play in front of family and friends.

"I want to find a role on this team and hopefully stay here for as long as I can and try to commit as much time to the Hounds and make them successful through being a local guy and just my play on the field," he said.

Hounds Head Coach Mike Cerino loves coaching the former NCAA Lacrosse National Champion.

"He's an enjoyable guy to be around, he's great with the young kids and is fun to coach," Coach Cerino said.

Sawyer helped Loyola, Maryland to the NCAA Championship in 2012. He and the Hounds are 4-4 on the season and travel to Denver this Saturday.
