CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Carolina Panthers star Steve Smith is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.
But on Friday, one day after Panthers minicamp wrapped up at Bank of America Stadium, Smith found time to give back.
For the fifth year, Smith hosted the Steve Smith Football ProCamp in partnership with Chiquita, Old Spice, Levine Children's Hospital and Fifth Third Bank.
The camp takes place Friday and Saturday at Ardrey Kell High School, and quarterback Cam Newton joined Smith on Friday to talk and teach campers.
About 500 boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 14 took part in the sold out event Friday. Fifty area high school coaches provided instruction in small groups during the morning sessions.
