FORT MILL, S.C. – Former White Sox hurler Freddy Garcia was sharp on the mound on Tuesday and Norfolk’s offense scored a season-high 10 runs en route to a 10-1 victory over the Charlotte Knights at Knights Stadium.

The Tides belted out 15 hits in the opening game of the four-game series at Knights Stadium and delivered Charlotte’s 14th loss of the early season.

Garcia (3-0, 2.81) went eight innings for the first time in 2013 and gave up just one run on four hits for his third win of the season. Garcia, 36, struck-out four Knights on Tuesday. Reliever Rob Delaney recorded the final three outs to seal the win for Norfolk, who improved to 11-8 on the year.

RHP Matt Zaleski (1-1, 5.14) started for the Knights and allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits over four innings and was saddled with the loss. Tony Pena Jr allowed two runs on three hits over one inning of work for Charlotte. Jhan Carlos Marinez allowed one run over two innings, while reliever Jeff Gray pitched two scoreless frames on Tuesday.
