FORT MILL, S.C. – It’s been a major league battle over a minor league team. We've learned the Charlotte Knights will not move anytime soon to the city that bears the team name. The Knights have reached a deal with York County to stay in Fort Mill for the next four years. There are many who'd like to see the team in uptown. "The uptown ballpark project, you know, we worked a number of years on that. We'll continue to look at it. But I think in the short term future, we've got to do the best to put people into the ballpark at Knights Stadium,” said Dan Rajkowski, Knights VP/GM. “That's what we're committed to do." We talked with attorney Jerry Reese Thursday night. He's been fighting to keep the Knights out of uptown because he believes it would prevent major league baseball from coming to Charlotte. Reese told us he believes the odds are better than 50-50 that major league baseball will come to the Queen City over the next 10 years.
