FORT MILL, S.C. - The Chicago White Sox have assigned infielder Chris Getz and outfielder Dewayne Wise to Charlotte on injury rehabilitation assignments.
Getz, 25, has been on the disabled list since August 14 (retroactive to August 12) with a strained right oblique. He is batting .267 (83-311) with two home runs, 28 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 89 games this season and ranks among the American League rookie leaders in multiple categories.
Getz spent his only season in Triple-A last year playing in 111 games for Charlotte hitting .302 with 11 home runs, 52 RBI and 24 doubles. He was named to the International League All-Star team and played for the United States team at the MLB Future's Game.
Wise, 31, was placed on the disabled list on August 18 (retro to August 15) with a strained AC joint in his right shoulder. He is hitting .200 (23-115) with two home runs and nine RBI in 62 games with the Sox in 2009.
Wise, a Charlotte resident, played in 55 games for the Knights in 2008 hitting .319 with nine home runs and 23 RBI. He also was the White Sox starting left fielder in the 2008 playoffs. He gained national attention earlier this season when he made an amazing leaping catch at the outfield wall to keep pitcher Mark Buerhle's perfect game alive on July 23 vs. Tampa Bay.
