FORT MILL, S.C. - October 14, 2009 - Charlotte Knights hitting coach Gary Ward is continuing to work with White Sox prospects in the Arizona Fall League. Ward is serving in the same capacity for the Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League, which began play yesterday.

The Peoria Javelinas roster features seven players from the White Sox organization including former Knights pitchers Justin Cassel, Matt Long and Sergio Santos. Top prospects outfielder Jordan Danks, pitcher Jacob Rasner, infielder C.J. Rutherford and third baseman Dayan Viciedo are also on the Peoria roster.

Cassel and Long each made their Triple-A debuts with the Knights in 2009. Cassel went 3-9 with a 5.06 ERA (42 ER/74.2 IP) in 18 games with the Knights. Long made just one spot start for the Knights on September 3rd vs. Durham and took a no decision.

Santos appeared in just three games for Charlotte last season. Santos made the conversion from infielder to pitcher in '09 eventually working his way to Triple-A with the Knights. Santos made three appearances for the Knights going 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA (5 ER/5.0 IP).

The Arizona Fall League was created in 1992 to give continued playing time and exposure to the top prospects in minor league baseball.
