FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights are closer to ending that six year playoff drought. The Knights kicked off their eight game homestand Thursday night, with a 2-1 win over Pawtucket.
Connor Jackson delivered the game winning homerun for Charlotte. His ninth homer of the season came in the fourth inning and put the Knights ahead to stay.
The victory, combined with Norfolk's 3-2 loss to Durham, gives Charlotte an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot Friday night at home. Matt Zaleski gets the nod for the Knights in game two of the series. First pitch is set for 7:15 in Ft. Mill. Charlotte hasn't played postseason baseball since 2006.
