Cam caps off charity weekend with gala

The Panthers' quarterback capped off his charity weekend with a gala in uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Cam Newton capped off his 3rd annual charity weekend with the Kids Rock! Gala. 

The weekend supports Newton's foundation which benefits local youth. 

Good Morning America personality and former New York Giant, Michael Strahan, emceed the event. Strahan was joined by Young Dylan. 

The 8-year old rapper performed Chance the Rapper's "No Problem" in front of several hundred celebrities and sponsors. 

The gala featured an auction. Attendees were able to bid on various memorabilia, including Newton's game-worn cleats and a signed Michael Jordan jersey. 

A big party, Saturday night helped fund different events organized by the Cam Newton Foundation all year long. 

"Just using my influence in a positive way, and realized that our youth is the future is not just a song name," Newton said. "To have as many outlets as I can through my foundation to give them [the youth] every opportunity to be successful or to be able to do what they want to do."
