12 Checkers players participate at AHL camps

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Checkers are taking pride in being well represented at American Hockey League camps currently taking place across the country.
The ten Checkers players scheduled to join the Hartford Wolf Pack training camp include: Peter Tsimikalis, Marty Guerin, Michel Leveille, P.J. Corsi, David Rutherford, Matt Ford, Jared Nightingale, Ethan Graham, Julien Brouillette and Jeff Jakaitis.
Attending other AHL camps will be Maxime Boisclair with the Iowa Chops and James Jernburg with the Houston Aeros.
“We are proud that our players have been recognized as AHL caliber prospects. This group of guys will continue the Checkers tradition of being one of the elite NHL/AHL development programs in the ECHL," remarked general manager and head coach of the Charlotte Checkers Derek Wilkinson.
The Checkers are getting ready for their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Opening night will take place on Halloween against the Augusta Lynx at a special 8 p.m. start. In the team’s 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date.
