BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Gardner-Webb junior wide receiver Kenny Cook is having a solid year for the Running Bulldogs. Heading into Saturday's matchup against Warner, Cook has caught 45 passes for 540 yards and 5 touchdowns, helping GWU to a 4-4 record on the season.

There was a time when football was an afterthought for Cook. Kenny was diagnosed with cancer back in tenth grade and missed the entire season. Kenny underwent 8 months of chemotherapy and radiation treatment and remembers vividly when he was cured.

"I was so grateful to God," Cook said, "One day I woke up and had everything taken away, when I finally got back on the field, I had to thank God for giving me a second chance and I just wanted to go out and make the most of it."

Cook has spent his entire college career cancer free. He hopes his survival of story and perseverance inspires others to keep fighting. The Bulldogs host the Royals Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1:30.
