RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- A judge could take several weeks before ruling whether the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and former coach Butch Davis has complied with public records requests related to the NCAA investigation of the football program.

Attorneys for state government, Davis and the media outlets seeking documents and Davis' personal cellphone records argued Thursday for about two hours in a Wake County courtroom.

Media lawyers say their clients haven't received all the information they're entitled to under North Carolina law and want more records about the NCAA probe, particularly about improper benefits that players received. The outlets subpoenaed Davis' records from his personal cellphone but Davis filed a motion to try to block it.

After the hearing, Judge Howard Manning said he hoped to rule before Labor Day.
