CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Alex Petzke has dreamed of playing football in front of a packed house. And in the fall, Petzke and the UNCC 49ers football team should realize that dream.
"It's going to be a big madhouse,” Petzke said, while working out with teammates.
"It's going to be exciting. We're seven months away,” said Offensive tackle Danny Book.
To raise money for the stadium, the university sold 5,000 of their roughly 15,000 seats. NBC Charlotte checked and 600 seat licenses remain for sale.
Tom Whitestone wants to see those final seats go, and believes the buzz will help drive sales.
People are asking about it all the time said Whitestone, the 49ers Director for Media Relations.
“What's going on with the football program? When is it getting started? How's the practices going? What's the team look like?,” he said
The 49ers football seat licenses go for $1,000 for bleacher-like seats to $2,500 for the premium seats.
“If we come out like people believe in us and if we believe in ourselves, those things (remaining seats) will sell like hotcakes,” Petzke said.
