CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Coach Ron Rivera says five players were held out of practice and four others were limited as the Panthers continue to prepare for Thursday night's game against the New York Giants.

Running back Jonathan Stewart (right ankle), linebacker Thomas Davis (right hamstring), right tackle Byron Bell (right ankle), safety Colin Jones (left shoulder) and guard Mike Pollak (neck/shoulder) did not practice. Linebacker Jon Beason (right elbow), center Ryan Kalil (ankle), and receivers Steve Smith (right knee) and Kealoha Pilares (foot) were limited.

Rivera says it's still too early to know who'll play against the Giants (1-1) and that he'll "have to make some game-time decisions."

The Panthers (1-1) moved practice indoors to the carpeted Charlotte Convention Center ballroom because of heavy rains and the threat of lightning.
