CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Carolina Panthers look to extend their three game winning streak when they welcome division rival Atlanta to Bank of America Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Carolina enters the game 4-3 on the season. The Panthers have not played since that 31-13 victory at Tampa Bay a little over 10 days ago. Atlanta is 2-5 overall.
The two teams split last season's meetings, each winning on their home fields. Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton downplayed the Falcons struggles so far. Earlier this week Newton said,
"We can't get jaded by their 2-5 record. This Falcons team has a good defense and will present a difficult challenge for us."
Panthers Defensive end Charles Johnson will play Sunday. Johnson strained his groin late in Carolina's win over the Bucs. Sunday will also mark the 2013 debut of running back Jonathan Stewart.
Stewart has missed the first eight weeks of the season after off-season surgery on both ankles and hasn't played in nearly eleven months.
Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Bank of America Stadium.
