CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Carolina Panthers are back on the big stage Thursday night. The Panthers host the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants in prime time at Bank of America Stadium.

It's the first prime time regular season matchup for the Panthers since November of 2009. Head coach Ron Rivera told reporters Tuesday, his team is excited about the opportunity of facing Eli Manning and the New York Giants, but the key is keeping those emotions in check and not getting ahead of themselves.

The Panthers come into the match up fresh off a 35-27 victory over the New Orleans Saints Sunday. Manning threw for over 500 yards in week two, as the Giants rallied to up end Tampa Bay 41-34. The Giants have won three of the last four meetings in this series.

Several Panthers missed practice on Tuesday, including linebacker Thomas Davis and wide receiver Steve Smith. Davis tweaked a hamstring. It's unknown whether he'll play Thursday. Smith injured his knee Sunday, but expects to play tomorrow night. Kickoff is set for 8:20.
