SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Panthers head coach Ron Rivera preached about more intensity before practice Tuesday. These long days can drag on a bit at camp, but Carolina responded to the coach's challenge this morning.

Said defensive end Greg Hardy, “You have to attack every day like it's a game, and that's how you come into the season ready.”

"I pulled three defensive tackles and three offensive guards out and let them compete, said head coach Ron Rivera.  "It worked. I thought the guys had a nice practice today."

Rivera was most impressed with the defense that made several plays, capitalizing on what he didn’t think was a great day for Cam Newton.  He pointed out Captain Munnerlyn who shined with a pick six.

"You know that’s typical captain. I liken him to a terrier going after a bone.  He's going to do whatever he can to get it."

But all dogs, or Panthers need their rest, and this day off comes at a good time.

Said offensive lineman Geoff Hangartner, "We've had some good physical practice, so it's a good break to get your legs back and come back fresh."
