CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Jonathan Stewart joined DeAngelo Williams on Sunday to give the Carolina Panthers the first set of teammates since the AFL-NFL merger to rush for more than 1,100 yards each in the same season.

Stewart rushed for 125 yards on 16 carries against New Orleans before leaving in the third quarter after aggravating his chronic left Achilles' tendon injury. He got the bulk of the yards on a 67-yard touchdown run on the second play from scrimmage.

He rushed for 1,133 yards on the season, surpassing Williams' 1,117. Williams, selected to his first Pro Bowl last week, missed his second straight game Sunday with a sprained left ankle.

Stewart and Williams are the sixth pair of teammates since 1970 to go over 1,000 yards, and the second in as many years. Derrick Ward and Brandon Jacobs of the New York Giants did it last year.
