CARMEL, I.N. - Charlotte resident Webb Simpson carded his best first round score ever on the PGA Tour Thursday at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana.
Simpson birdied four straight holes and carded no bogeys on his way to an 8-under 64 in the opening round of the BMW Championship. The former Wake Forest star finds himself tied for the lead with three other golfers, including world number one Rory McIlroy.
The U.S. Open Champion will be paired with Bo Van Pelt and Jim Furyk for round two. That group tees off at 9:28 Friday morning.
