MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Weddington High School senior tight end Buck Jones has a lot he wants to accomplish in his final football season. So far, the Warriors are 2-0, putting up 93 points in their first two contests. Weddington faces Kings Mountain on Friday. Jones (6-4, 225) has aspirations of playing college football and is getting looks by some of the top programs in the country.
1. How has being a senior at Weddington changed your mindset heading into the season?
Jones: Everyone talks about how your senior season flies by, so I'm just focusing on each game, making plays and enjoying the experience with my teammates.
2. Do you want to play at the next level, and if so what schools are recruiting you?
Jones: Yes, I would love to keep playing football. It really is a big part of my life. I have been mainly talking to TCU, Clemson, University of Richmond, Elon, and some others.
3. What is your most embarrassing football moment?
Jones: My most embarrassing moment was last year. I made a tackle against Forest Hills and while celebrating with my teammates I was knocked to the ground, and of course it was caught on camera so it was replayed a few times during films.
4. What is one thing you would like to do that you've never had the opportunity to do?
Jones: One thing I would like to do that I've never done is play college football.
5. If you could have dinner with three people--dead or alive—who would they be and why?
Jones: Three people I would have dinner with would be my grandpa who died last year, because he had great stories and would keep the conversation going, Will Ferrell, because he is hilarious and would make everyone laugh, and Megan Fox, because she is just nice to look at.
