CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Butler High School student Deion Walker resigned from the school's football team Tuesday evening.
According to a statement from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Walker withdrew from the team after talking with the football coach.
Walker was a star running back for the Butler Bulldogs.
He was arrested Saturday after police say he caused a deadly accident on Rocky River Church Road around 2 p.m.
Walker’s car collided with Nathan Scott Hartis’s motorcycle and Hartis was pronounced dead at the scene.
Walker was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, failure to yield the right of way, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
