CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- If you look at the current roster of the Charlotte Hounds, you'll see a very familiar name. A last name that Hornets fans know very well. That name is Tripucka.
Jake Tripucka, son of former Charlotte Hornets guard Kelly Tripucka, is the Hounds Midfielder.
"He wanted me to try just about everything," Jake said. "His wisdom to me is trying to help me get through each day and not live through me, but at the same time give me pointers here and there."
Kelly Tripucka spent three seasons in the late 1980s and early 1990s with the expansion Hornets. Tripucka put up All-Star caliber numbers his first season in the Queen City, averaging nearly 23 points per game during the 1988-1989 season.
Now Jake's hoping to feel the buzz in Charlotte by leading the Hounds to a playoff spot.
Jake said, "My dad's given me countless stories about how people here support teams. It'd be huge to get us to the playoffs in the second year of the program."
The Hounds are 4-5 on the season. Charlotte travels to Boston Saturday night.
