Nation Ford High School Band captures second consecutive state championship

The Nation Ford High School Band competed in the South Carolina Band Directors Association AAA State Championship on Saturday at Batesburg-Leesville High School in Batesburg, SC. 

Nation Ford won the championship with a score of 96.25. Fort Mill High School was second with a score of 96.2 and Blue Ridge High School was third with a score of 93.

The Nation Ford High School Band won the award for “Best Music” and tied for “Best Visual” performance. 

In only their fourth year of existence, the Nation Ford Band has had a tremendous amount of success. In the fall of 2007, the band finished 2nd in their first ever South Carolina Band Directors Class AA state marching band championships.  This was followed in 2008 with a 2nd place finish in the SCBDA Class AAA championships.  2009 brought the Nation Ford Band their first state marching band championship and a seventh place Class AA finish at the Bands of America Grand National Championships in Indianapolis, IN. 

The 2010 calendar year continues to bring accolades as the NFHS band was selected in the spring to perform in the prestigious 2011 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City and on Saturday, October 30 earned their second consecutive state marching band championship in Class AAA.  The band will be hosting and participating in the popular Carolinas Singing Christmas Tree in the Nation Ford Auditorium December 3rd and 4th.  They will also perform in the Fort Mill Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 4th.
