CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The Shelby Lions overcame an early deficit to win the 2A Championship game over Southwest Onslow today 29-7. 

The Lions trailed early 7-3 but scored the next 26 points to earn their first state championship since 2006. 

Lions junior quarterback, R.J. George, finished 14-26 for 171 yards and one touchdown through the air in the win.

Shelby has now won six State Championships in the school's history.
