CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Country Day used a strong defensive performance to edge visiting Providence Day Friday night in week 10 of the high school football season.
The Chargers dented the scoreboard first with a field goal in the opening quarter, but the Buccaneers responded with a Michael Radford touchdown run in the second frame. The extra point was blocked, making it 6-3 at half.
CDS tailback William Roberts scored on a long run in the third frame, pushing the Bucs' lead to 12-3 after another blocked PAT.
The Chargers fall to 5-2 and 1-1 in CISAA action.
The Bucs, meanwhile, improve to 6-3 and 1-1 in CISAA action. It wasn't a pretty homecoming win, but head coach Bob Whitman and his crew will take it.
