CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- For the first time this season, it was Mallard Creek's defense that stepped up in a 45-3 win over Mooresville Friday night in the I-Meck 4A league opener for both squads.
The Mavericks for seven turnovers, all in the second half, to hand Mooresville its second defeat.
Mallard Creek quarterback Michael Goodman completed 14 of 24 passes for 195 yards. The Mavericks, now 4-0, play their next two games on the road, including a contest at Lake Norman next Friday.
