CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Independence scored early and often in a homecoming blowout win over Rocky River Friday night in week nine high school football action.

The Patriots, who lost several players to redistricting when Rocky River opened recently, won 49-17.  Running back Isiah Robinson had three scores for the home team, and college prospect Austin Duke scored from 24 yards out to seal the win for Independence in the fourth quarter.

The Patriots will travel to Myers Park next Friday before taking on Butler in week 11.  Coach Bill Geiler's club is now 8-1 and 4-1 in Southwestern 4A league play, while Rocky River falls to 3-6 and 1-4. 

The boys from Mint Hill host Ardrey Kell next Friday.
