Berger's 3 TDs guide Catholic to South Meck 8 crown

The Charlotte Catholic Cougars laid claim to the South Meck 8 conference championship with a convincing 49-13 win at home vs Ardrey Kell.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Catholic Cougars cruised to yet another South Meck 8 conference championship Friday, rolling over Ardrey Kell 49-13.

After losing their opening bout with Charlotte Christian, Mike Brodowicz’s team has been untouchable, rattling off nine straight wins en route to a 9-1 record. During that time, the Cougars’ defense has carried the load, limiting opponents to just 10 points per game.

The Cougars got things rolling when Jonathan Newman hauled in a 32-yard touchdown pass from Brady Berger. Newman and Berger teamed up for two more scores, giving Catholic a 21-0 lead.

Charlotte Catholic will wrap up their regular season next week at Providence. Ardrey Kell finishes their 2016 regular season hosting conference rival South Meck.
