MAIDEN, N.C. - If there's one game that the Maiden Blue Devils look forward to each and every year, it's the rivalry game against Newton-Conover.

The latest installment of the more than 4 decades old rivalry played out Friday night in Maiden with the Blue Devils downing the Red Devils 23-6, behind a couple of touchdowns from Senior TJ Vick.

Vick caught the first score of the game, a 40 yard pass from Jake McRee, on the Blue Devils opening possession of the first quarter. He added another 30 yard run in the 3rd quarter, putting the game out of reach and helping the Devils remain unbeaten six games into the season.

"It's huge for our kids to get to 6-0," said Blue Devils head coach Frank Snider. "We beat another quality opponent tonight in Newton-Conover."

Vick added, "For us to be 6-0, it's great especially since it's my senior year and I'm playing for my brother who can't play."

6-0 Maiden heads to West Caldwell next week. 2-4 Newton-Conover is back home to host West Lincoln.
