CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Harding Rams closed out the regular season in style Friday, scoring 43 second-half points to upset West Meck 50-47.
The Rams, who trailed 20-7 at the half, found their offensive stride in the third quarter and went toe-to-toe with the explosive Hawks.
Superstar running back Quavaria Crouch found the endzone twice. Teammate Jaquan Rankins stole the show, though, scoring four times three different ways. He caught a touchdown pass, rushed for two scores, and returned a kickoff to the house. His touchdown reception was the game-winner, coming with less than a minute to play.
West Meck is a lock for the state playoffs at 8-3. Harding, which didn’t qualify for an automatic berth, could earn an at-large seed in the playoffs next week.
