Rouse, Olympic top Independence 14-12

The Olympic Trojans scored a monumental victory, taking down Independence 14-12.

MINT HILL, N.C. – The Olympic Trojans made the most of their second-week bye, topping Independence in 14-12 in a defensive slugfest.

Due to torrential rain from Tropical Storm Hermine, the game was played at Rocky River. Trailing 10-6, Olympic went for it on 4th and goal, but Damon Rouse was taken down just short of the goalline. On the ensuing Indy possession, Olympic’s defense rose up, forcing a safety, bringing the Trojans within two.

Rouse redeemed himself in the red zone, reaching paydirt and giving his team a lead they wouldn’t surrender. With the loss, Independence dropped to 0-3.
